The Secret
Message of Jesus - Discussion Group Monday Evenings 7:30 - 9:00 starting September 28 16 Candlelight Park |
|
|
|
In The Secret Message of Jesus, Brian McLaren “clears
away the dust of two thousand years of the Christian religion to get to
the most important questions facing Christendom: Could it be that the
church has misunderstood or, in some cases, intentionally distorted
Jesus’ core message? What if Jesus was right — but right in different
ways than we ever realized? What if many of us have carried on a
religion that somewhere along the way missed rich and radical treasures
hidden
in the essential message of Jesus of Nazareth? McLaren calls us to look hard, think deeply, and search long with him… even if the answers overturn our conventional ideas, priorities and practices.” Like all McLaren’s books this one will make you think but it won’t require you to have a PhD. It may also move you to act. To sign up contact rev.nigel.weaver@gmail.com

THE SHACK -
Discussion Group Tuesday Evenings 7:30 - 9:00 starting September 29 Room 201, Ministries’ Centre, 9 Cornwall Road |

THE SHACK - Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity Maybe you’ve read this book already. Maybe someone’s been telling you ‘You gotta read this.’ Here’s an opportunity to meet over 9 Tuesday nights to share and examine this book and its message in more depth. This is a book about which people have written “Finally! A guy-meets-God novel that has literary integrity and spiritual daring. THE SHACK cuts through clichés of both religion and bad writing to reveal something compelling and beautiful about life’s integral dance with the divine.” “My biggest disappointment with Christian books is that almost all of them seem to say the same things in the same way. Not so with THE SHACK! It reads like no other book and tells a story I guarantee you have not heard before. Enjoy the adventure!” To sign up contact a.jean.ward@gmail.com
